Tweaks and Tips |
One of two cache managers recommended in this issue's Speed feature, CacheBooster takes over where Windows leaves off: managing your PC's hard disk cache settings to keep drive accesses to a minuimum. CacheBooster is pre-configured for common PC uses, although confident users can roll their own settings. This utility works only with Windows 95 and 98; if you use Windows 98SE, Me, 2000 or XP, we suggest Cacheman.

Cacheman provides fine-grain control over hard disk cache settings for all version of Windows from 9x through to XP, with the choice of convenient presets and a Wizard for beginners, or full manual over-ride for advanced users.
